Well, well, well
I am the kind of person that goes to the doctor, well, never. The last couple months I’ve been fighting this bug and that bug, and finally decided to take myself to a doctor. I dug through my piles of paper and found the folder with my insurance card, called the 800 number on the back, got assigned to a primary care physician, and made an appointment for which I paid about what a movie costs, sans popcorn. And then the miracle of it all hit me, and I had a whole other appreciation for the St. Anthony Free Medical Clinic, whose patients are all uninsured. I appreciated the expression of relief I have seen on many a parent as they bring their children into the pediatric clinic, as otherwise their child would simply go sick. I appreciated the expression of hope on the faces of those patients with visible wounds. For a healthy society, health care really shouldn’t be a luxery…
