St. Anthony Foundation’s Father Alfred Center Honored at the 3rd Annual Recovery Day

This past Friday, St. Anthony Foundation’s Father Alfred Center received an Appreciation Award for their outstanding work in the recovery and re-entry community as part of the 3^rd Annual Recovery Day event at Boeddeker Park.

The award was presented by Richard Beal, Director of Transitional Housing at Tenderloin Housing Clinic, to members of the Father Alfred Center team – Counselor Jose Pritchett, Intake Coordinator Justin Townsend, Program Director Kennth Lofton, and Father John Hardin.

Beal, who served as emcee for the event, is also a graduate of the program, and July 18 marked 28 years of recovery.

“St. Anthony’s gave me hope, and St. Anthony’s gave me a chance,” Beal told the crowd. “I stayed in their program, I graduated the program, and I’ve been clean ever since.”

The event featured speeches and appearances from Mayor London Breed, Supervisor Matt Dorsey, Supervisor Dean Preston, Police Chief Bill Scott, and actor and recovery advocate Danny Trejo, as well as musical performances, food, raffles, and information booths from community organizations.
