Children, parents, and neighborhood groups to hear from Mayor Lurie about steps taken since he’s been in office and the urgent challenges facing the Tenderloin

WHAT: Mayor Lurie’s Tenderloin Town Hall is a community event for parents, children, and local organizations to hear an update on progress and priorities for the neighborhood, following the Mayor’s first day in office when his family volunteered in St. Anthony’s Dining Room. After hearing from Mayor Lurie, community members will have the opportunity to ask questions during the second half of the event.

“I look forward to meeting with the Tenderloin community to share my administration’s priorities and hear directly from residents about their concerns,” said Mayor Daniel Lurie. “My administration is committed to delivering results for the people of San Francisco, and I want the Tenderloin community to know that we are in this together. I appreciate the St. Anthony Foundation for hosting this conversation, and I look forward to an open discussion on how we can move forward together.”

“Our St. Anthony’s guests, neighbors and the 3,500 children of the Tenderloin deserve a safe neighborhood,” said St. Anthony Foundation CEO, Dr. Larry Kwan. “We appreciate Mayor Lurie’s commitment to addressing our community’s concerns, and we look forward to a robust, open dialogue about compassionate, integrated solutions that bring lasting outcomes,” said Dr. Larry Kwan, CEO, St. Anthony Foundation.

“The De Marillac Academy Community would like to thank St. Anthony’s Foundation for hosting the Tenderloin Town Hall with Mayor Lurie. We are eager to learn more about Mayor Lurie’s vision for the safety and well-being of the young people, families, and residents of the Tenderloin community. This will be an important opportunity for a conversation about safety among City leadership and the Tenderloin community,” said Theresa Flynn Houghton, President, De Marillac Academy.

Mayor Lurie, who began his term by volunteering with his family in the St. Anthony’s Dining Room and who has declared a fentanyl state of emergency, will be joined by newly appointed Policy Chief Kunal Modi to discuss progress, challenges, and next steps for the Tenderloin community.
