St. Anthony Foundation Hosts Disco-Themed Volunteer Appreciation Event to Honor Our Groovy Volunteers
June 22, 2023
The Dining Room was transformed into a boogie wonderland last weekend, as we put on our annual Volunteer Appreciation Event in celebration of the hard work and dedication of our amazing volunteers. The theme of the night was “Volunteer Disco”, and there was no shortage of groovy outfits and costumes on hand as we danced the night away.
Volunteers and their guests were treated to a delicious Italian feast from Tricolore Caffe, far out mocktails mixed by talented St. Anthony’s Young Professionals Council bartenders. And for dessert, we had an out-of-sight chocolate fountain with lots of treats to dip and enjoy.
After dinner, we got down to some appreciation with our milestone awards for five, 10, 15, and 20 years of volunteer service. Staff members from the Tech Lab, Free Clothing Program, and Dining Room gave out Spirit of Fun Awards to volunteers from their respective programs to acknowledge those who exemplify the spirit of St. Anthony’s with their energy, commitment, and positive attitudes.
Then, it was time for a little friendly competition as attendees played a round of Name That Tune. The disco ball paddles were flying as people tried to guess the disco song for a chance to spin the prize wheel.
Once the awards were awarded and the tunes were guessed, the real party got underway. A group of die-hard disco dancers surrounded our giant disco ball and took turns shaking their groove things until it was time to call it a night.
The Volunteer Appreciation Event is always a great time for volunteers and staff alike, but it’s a small token for the service provided by our volunteers. St. Anthony’s is open 365 days a year. That means that every day our volunteers are here supporting the work done by our programs and making sure our guests are taken care of and cared for. We couldn’t do what we do without them, and it is an honor to appreciate and celebrate them.
