Roundtable for the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition & Health
Our CEO Nils Behnke was grateful to join Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Jim McGovern, and community leaders at the San Francisco Marin Food Bank for a roundtable and listening session on the work being done to combat hunger and food insecurity ahead of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health.
“At St. Anthony’s, we don’t consider our impressive number of meals served (close to 47 million meals over the last 72 years) a sign of success. While we are called to serve people experiencing poverty with their immediate needs, our objective is to cater to the whole person and to help them achieve lasting, positive change in their lives. In this context, we think of our basic services such as food as a gateway to stability.
It is our mission to recognize every human person’s God-given dignity and to serve them with the respect they deserve, no matter who they are. We accompany our guests on their individual journey with clinical and recovery services, social workers, workforce development, training and employment. We call this our companionship program,” said Behnke.
