Passing the Gift of Recovery Along
At Father Alfred Center August 2nd marked the date of our most recent graduation. The class was wished well by friends, family, fellow residents, alumni & staff.
In the Father Alfred Center kitchen that day we served a (4 star) meal of crab cakes, fettuccini w/ white creamy clam sauce, & asparagus. For dessert a raspberry cheesecake, oreo moose pie & ice cream Sunday bar were the hit of the evening.
Special thanks to Chef Joseph Watkins for coming by to help us out with Thursday’s dinner. Joe is a grateful recovering addict who sponsors a few of our residents & cooks his heart out in the kitchen.
Joe told me: “Every time I come to work with FAC residents I see that the care & attention to detail in the kitchen is very high & the products that were being served are very good. I wanted to say thank you to the foundation for all you guys do & the best way I know to do that is with my time & skill.
…..I’m just happy to give something back. This is service for me, and service helps us stay clean. It’s about one addict helping another & passing the gift of recovery along.”
We at Father Alfred Center look forward to doing it again next month for a new class of graduates. For those still out there suffering from addiction, we would like to say that it’s never too late to turn your life around.
