Encountering Jesus in the Tenderloin
The Franciscans invite you down to the tenderloin to learn how our work at St. Anthony Foundation is part of a 100-year tradition of Catholic service in San Francisco and an 800-year-old worldwide Franciscan movement. Inspired by the Gospel values of Jesus and the life of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi, our work is centered around upholding the inherent dignity of every person. Our goal is to put a face to the issues of homelessness, poverty, and addiction, and help people encounter Christ in the face of the poor and suffering. Together we will explore how our programs and services are guided by our Franciscan values of Healing, Personalism, Community, Justice, and Gratitude. The experience includes a 50 min. tour of our Dining Room, program facilities, and St. Boniface Church. Following the tour participants will have the opportunity to join those we serve for lunch and return to our Church for individual meditation or midday mass.
