Day 22: Green Volunteering

At St. Anthony’s, we’re always working to better our sustainable initiatives. In honor of Earth Day, we wanted to highlight how volunteers help us with our large clothing recycling initiative.

Almost every day of the week, volunteers in our Free Clothing Program help sort donated apparel items for our guests. Most clothing donations go into our store and are given to guests free of charge, but the items that don’t make it, get recycled.

Recycled? Yes, recycled! Clothing that we’re not able to use is given away to partner organizations and distributed to impoverished communities throughout the world or repurposed into rags. If it weren’t for our fabulous volunteer sorters, none of this would be possible!
