Day 21: A Volunteer’s Journey
We took a moment at today’s Penny Pitch event to catch up with Addie Auza, Executive Coordinator at St. Anthony’s. Addie originally came to St. Anthony’s a volunteer. We had a few questions for her about the experience of going from a volunteer to an employee.
Carmen: How did you find out about volunteering at St. Anthony’s?
Addie: I was searching around for volunteer opportunities while I was in college and I found a volunteer data entry position on St. Anthony’s website.
Carmen: What about the experience of volunteering made you want to get more deeply involved in the work that St. Anthony’s does?
Addie: The staff made me feel really welcome and I could tell how much they cared about each other, it really felt like a community. I wanted to be a part of it, so when a full time position opened up in Development, I knew that I wanted to apply.
Carmen: Any regrets? 🙂
Addie: None. I feel like I owe St. Anthony’s a lot for helping me with my professional development.
Carmen: If you could describe in just one work how working and volunteering at St. Anthony’s makes you feel what would that be?
Addie: Grateful.
