Health and Healing for All: Bringing Pet Care to the Tenderloin
March 7, 2025

At St. Anthony’s, we believe in caring for the whole person—including the four-legged companions who bring comfort, companionship and unconditional love to many of our neighbors. That’s why we were proud to partner with the San Francisco SPCA, San Francisco Animal Care & Control and Full Belly Bus to host two free dog vaccination clinics in response to a growing canine Parvovirus outbreak in the Tenderloin.
This free vaccination clinic was a two-part effort to combat the Parvovirus outbreak, ensuring that dogs in the Tenderloin received both their initial and booster vaccines for stronger, long-term protection. At the March 3 clinic alone, we provided free pet food to 80 guests and ensured that over 100 animals received parvo and rabies vaccinations—a major step in protecting the health of pets in the Tenderloin.

Beyond offering essential care, this collaboration is collecting valuable data to inform future public health initiatives and expand long-term community partnerships. Modeled after the SF SPCA’s monthly mobile clinic, which served 5,314 animals last year, these two pop-up clinics are just the beginning of a larger effort to provide accessible veterinary care. By supporting the pets of the Tenderloin, we’re helping build a healthier, stronger community—because every companion animal deserves care.
A huge thank you to our partners and everyone who made these clinics possible. If you’d like to support initiatives like this, consider donating or volunteering with St. Anthony’s today.
