Kitchen staff has prepared more than 4,000 pounds of turkey, 900 pounds of potatoes, and nearly 1,700 servings of fresh baked fruit crumble.

WHAT: For nearly 75 years, St. Anthony’s has provided a warm meal on Thanksgiving Day to those in need in the heart of the Tenderloin. This year, St. Anthony’s expects to serve guests with the support of 70 volunteers who will bus tables, serve meals, and most importantly enjoy community and connection with guests.

To serve this many people, St. Anthony’s kitchen staff has prepared more than 4,000 pounds of turkey, 900 pounds of potatoes, more than 1,600 servings of fresh baked fruit crumble and challah rolls, and 200 vegetarian garden burgers.

WHO: St. Anthony Foundation’s team members, guests, volunteers

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024. Lunch service from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Doors open at 7:00 a.m. for coffee and pastries)

WHERE: St. Anthony Foundation Dining Room, 121 Golden Gate Ave. near Jones Street, First Floor, San Francisco, CA 94102

WHY: As an organization guided by 800-plus-year Franciscan values, St. Anthony’s believes that on Thanksgiving, and every day, we’re called to serve those most in need with the dignity and respect that each person deserves. At St. Anthony’s, a meal shared in the Dining Room is often the first step on a guest’s journey from instability to hope, stability and renewal. Offering the most accessible, effective one stop resource in the Tenderloin, the foundation provides integrated, whole person services (social, health and spiritual care) including meals, medical care, residential recovery for men, peer support, job training, jobs, and more.

“The need is great all year round, and there’s an extraordinary demand for care in our Tenderloin community during the holiday season,” said Dr. Larry Kwan, CEO, St. Anthony Foundation. “That’s why we feel deeply grateful for our steadfast community of donors and volunteers who make our service to the community possible.”
